A front extending from the Northern High Plains/Northern Rockies to parts of the Great Basin/Northern California will move quickly to the Lower Great Lakes to the Central/Southern Appalachians/Central Gulf Coast by Thursday. The system will produce rain and higher elevation snow over parts of the Pacific Northwest with snow over the Norther Rockies/Northern Intermountain Region on Tuesday evening. As the storm moves onto the Plains, snow will develop over the Northern Plains/Upper Mississippi Valley on Wednesday morning advancing to parts of the Northeast by Thursday morning. Meanwhile, upper-level energy over the Great Lakes will produce snow over parts of the Upper Great Lakes on Tuesday evening ending Wednesday morning. The energy will also develop scattered snow over parts of the Northeast early Wednesday morning into Wednesday evening.
