Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 239 PM EST Sat Feb 11 2017 Valid 00Z Sun Feb 12 2017 - 00Z Tue Feb 14 2017 ...Heavy snow and possible blizzard conditions could impact portions of the Northeast by Sunday night... ...Rain and mountain snow expected for the Southwest U.S.... A surface low pressure system lifting through the Ohio Valley and the northern Mid-Atlantic and rapidly deepening off the Northeast coast will bring another winter storm to places from upstate New York through Maine. Heavy to significant snowfall is likely, and combined with gusty winds, could bring possible blizzard conditions to parts of the region as well. Winter weather watches and advisories, along with blizzard watches, are in effect. To the south, expect rain showers to develop along the frontal boundary as it pushes through the Deep South and Mid-Atlantic regions on Sunday. Out west, rain and mountain snow will continue tonight across the Southwest as a cold front drops southward, but a deep upper level low moving across northern Mexico will keep conditions unsettled through the rest of the weekend and into the work week. Rain, heavy at times, and thunderstorms will develop ahead of the system across the southwest, moving into the Four Corners region by Sunday. Heavy snowfall will also be possible in the higher terrain. Precipitation should spread into the southern High Plains by Monday with snow or a rain/snow mix possible across portions of the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles.
