A deep upper-level trough over the Western portion of the country will move eastward to the Upper Great Lakes to Central Plains while forming an upper-level low over the Northern Plains by Monday evening. At the surface, the associated front will move from the Northern High Plains/Southern California eastward to the Great Lakes/Western Ohio Valley and the Southern Plains by Tuesday. The system will produce rain over California and the immediate coast a long the Northwest with snow over the higher elevations of Central California.
