Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 338 AM EDT Sun Apr 9 2017 Valid 12Z Sun Apr 9 2017 - 12Z Tue Apr 11 2017 ...Low pressure system tracking eastward across the Rockies and the Plains will bring a variety of weather impacts through Monday... A strong cold front sinking southward from Canada is forecast to combine with a front tracking eastward across the Plains on Sunday, and then evolve as a single frontal boundary across the Great Lakes and southward across the central U.S. by Monday. As the cold front continues eastward across the Plains on Sunday, expect rain and thunderstorm coverage to increase from Texas to the Ohio Valley. Farther to the north from eastern Montana to the Upper Midwest, a heavier band of precipitation is expected through Monday night, with some accumulating snow possible from the northern Rockies and extending eastward across parts of South Dakota and central Minnesota as the colder air from Canada sinks southward. Winter storm warnings are in effect for parts of Montana and Wyoming, and high wind warnings are in effect for parts of eastern Wyoming. Another Pacific cold front is expected to move inland and across the Pacific Northwest on Monday, bringing yet another round of coastal rain and mountain snow to much of this region and extending into northern California Monday night. The rain and snow amounts with this next system should be lighter than what was observed over the past few days. Across the eastern U.S., temperatures will continue to moderate after a cold start to the weekend. Temperatures on Sunday are expected to rise into the 60s and 70s for most areas, also with sunny to partly cloudy skies. Even warmer conditions are likely for the beginning of the work week as an upper level ridge becomes established over the region.
