Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 434 PM EDT Fri May 05 2017 Valid 00Z Sat May 06 2017 - 00Z Mon May 08 2017 ...Heavy rain possible over parts of Northern New England... ...Temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees below average from the Great Lakes to Ohio Valley and the Central/Southern Appalachians... Low pressure over the Mid-Atlantic will move northward to Quebec by Sunday. Showers and thunderstorm will develop along and ahead of the associated front over parts of the Mid-Atlantic will move into parts of Southern New England overnight Friday ending by Saturday morning. Rain will develop from the Lower Great Lakes/Ohio Valley to parts of Central/Southern Appalachians into parts of the Northeast that will continue over the region through to Sunday morning. Meanwhile, a front extending from the Upper Mississippi Valley/Upper Great Lakes northwestward to the Northern Plains will move southeastward off the Southeast/Southern Mid-Atlantic Coast while extending from parts of Eastern Gulf Coast to the Lower Mississippi Valley northwestward to the Northern High Plains by Sunday morning. The system will produce rain over parts of the Upper Great Lakes, overnight Friday, that will move southeastward across parts of the Ohio Valley on Saturday. The rain will continue to move southeastward to parts of the Southeast/Southern Mid-Atlantic by Sunday. A deep trough over the West Coast will develop an upper-level low over Southern California by Sunday. The storm will aid in developing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Northern Rockies/Northern Intermountain Region and parts of the Great Basin that will expand into parts of the Central/Southern Rockies by Saturday evening into Sunday morning. Rain will also develop over parts of the Pacific Northwest through Saturday evening. In addition as the upper-level trough moves inland, snow will develop over the highest elevations of the Cascades from overnight Friday into Saturday. On Saturday afternoon, rain will begin to develop over parts of Southern California that will expand into parts of Northern/Central California overnight Saturday into Sunday.
