A front extending from the Northern Appalachians southwestward to the Southern Plains will move to the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Coast southwestward across the Southeast to parts of the Southern Plains by Tuesday evening. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the boundary from parts of the Northeast southwestward to the Central Appalachians to the Southern Plains that will advance eastward to off the Northeast/Northern Mid-Atlantic Coast by Tuesday evening. The showers and thunderstorms will also move southeastward to the Southern Mid-Atlantic to the Central/Western Gulf Coast by Tuesday evening as well. In addition, upper-level energy over parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley and over South-Central Canada will move southeastward to the Great Lakes and northeastward to the Northeast by Tuesday. The cold pool of air aloft will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley/Upper Great Lakes that will expand into parts of the Ohio Valley by Monday evening. The showers and thunderstorms will expand into the Lower Great Lakes/Northeast while extending westward to the Upper Great Lakes on Tuesday into Tuesday evening. The areas of showers and thunderstorms will have a maximum in areal coverage during the late afternoon into the late evening on Monday and Tuesday. Meanwhile, weak upper-level energy will move into parts of the Pacific Northwest and over parts of Northern California that will move to parts of the Northern/Central Rockies by Tuesday. The first area of upper-level energy over the Pacific Northwest will move southeastward to the Great Lakes by Tuesday evening while a second area of upper-level energy will move into parts of the Pacific Northwest on Tuesday into Tuesday evening. An area of showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of Northern California/Great Basin on Monday afternoon into evening. On Tuesday evening areas of showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Northern Rockies into the Southern Rockies.
