Severe weather in addition to flash flooding will be possible across the middle Mississippi Valley, lower Great Lakes region, and portions of the Ohio Valley. Cooler and drier conditions are expected behind the front, bringing some relief from the heat and humidity. Severe weather will also be a potential threat for the Mid-Atlantic on Friday and the Storm Prediction Center has additional information on that. Hot and humid conditions are expected ahead of the front for the East Coast region through Friday as temperatures are expected to be well into the 90s, along with dewpoints in the upper 60s to mid 70s. By this weekend, with the cold front moving through this region, temperatures will be closer to normal to perhaps slightly below normal. Hot conditions are expected for the western U.S. with some isolated to scattered thunderstorm activity during the afternoon and evening hours.
