Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 315 PM EDT Fri Jul 14 2017 Valid 00Z Sat Jul 15 2017 - 00Z Mon Jul 17 2017 ...Slight risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Southwest... ...Heavy rain possible over parts of the Mid-Atlantic and central High Plains... A warm and humid airmass is in place from the central Plains to the Mid-Atlantic, and will support areas of showers and thunderstorms south and east of a stationary boundary stretching from the central Plains to Northeast into this evening. Some storms could be severe across parts of the Mid-Atlantic where the upper level pattern could sustain more organized convection. This stationary boundary will slide south and east, and eventually become stalled stretching from the central Plains to the southern Mid-Atlantic by tomorrow morning. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected along and south of the boundary across much of the Southeast U.S. An area of enhanced precipitation is expected across the coastal Carolinas where the upper level pattern will be more supportive. Monsoonal moisture working its way into the Southwestern U.S. will result in showers and thunderstorms across the region through the weekend. Some storms could be severe this evening across southern Arizona. The moisture will be rather limited to southern Arizona this evening but will surge northward over the weekend with a general increase in the coverage of thunderstorm activity over the region.
