A few lingering showers currently across Upstate New York and eastern Maine will diminish by mid-morning. In the the wake of the cold frontal passage temperatures much the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast will have mild temperatures, with many locations ranging from the upper 70 to mid 80s over the next few days.. Showers and thunderstorms will linger over parts of the Southern Mid-Atlantic through Monday morning along a slow moving front. Some of these storms may become severe on Monday. Please refer to the SPC convective outlooks for additional information. A wave of low pressure over the Central Plains will advance eastward to the Ohio Valley today. Scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms are forecast to develop across portions of the Central/Southern Plains to the Ohio Valley. A few showers and thunderstorms may initiate over the Northern High Plains as upper-level energy passes through. Isolated areas with higher rainfall rates will be likely. Areal averages of 1 to 3 inches are anticipated from central Texas to the coastal Carolinas. Locations along the Red River (Texas and Oklahoma) are forecast to have upwards of 5 inches by early Wednesday. Moisture rich air over the Gulf Coast into the Southeast will trigger showers and thunderstorms from the Western Gulf Coast to the Eastern Gulf Coast. The showers and thunderstorms will have the greatest areal coverage during the late afternoon into the late evening. Additionally, upper-level energy just off the Northern California Coast will move inland to parts of the Great Basin by Monday. The energy will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of Northern California to the Great Basin and the Central/Southern Rockies through Monday. Likewise, the showers and thunderstorms will have the greatest areal coverage during the late afternoon into the late evening on Saturday and Sunday.
