Hurricane Harvey is forecast to make landfall overnight Friday along the Western Gulf Coast. The storm will produce extremely heavy rain over parts of the Western Gulf Coast and inland through Sunday. See the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center for the most current storm track, intensity, and storm total precipitation. In the meantime, upper-level energy over Southern Florida will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of Southern Florida through Sunday. In addition, a quasi-stationary front will extend from parts of the Southeast over the Gulf Coast States into Texas also through Sunday. The boundary will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Eastern/Central Gulf Coast from Friday evening into Sunday morning. Meanwhile, a complex front over the Northern Plains to the Northern Intermountain Region/Great Basin will move slowly eastward to the Upper Mississippi Valley/Upper Great Lakes southwestward to the Central Plains by Sunday. The system will produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Upper Midwest into parts of the Northern Intermountain Region on Friday evening that will end overnight over the Northern Intermountain Region and over the Northern High Plains by Saturday afternoon. The showers and thunderstorms will move into parts of the Upper Great Lakes into the Middle Mississippi Valley/Central Plains Saturday morning into Sunday morning. Elsewhere, monsoonal moisture and daytime heating will produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southern/Central Rockies and Southern/Central High Plains through late Saturday night.
