Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 355 AM EDT Mon Sep 04 2017 Valid 12Z Mon Sep 04 2017 - 12Z Wed Sep 06 2017 ...There is an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Ohio Valley/Great Lakes... ...Temperatures will be 15 to 20 degrees above average over parts of the Pacific Northwest into parts of the Northern Intermountain Region... ...Moisture from the remnants of Lidia will bring showers and thunderstorms to the Southwest/South California... A low pressure system will continue to lift northeast out of Maine this morning and continue to move into the northern Atlantic - the stalled trailing edge of this front over the Southeast will diminish by the afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms are expected for portions of Florida and Georgia. A cold front will spread south into the central and southern Plains and east through the Mississippi/Ohio valleys, reaching the eastern states by Wednesday morning. A long swath of showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the passing frontal boundary. Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible today from eastern Missouri to the the Great Lakes region. The Storm Prediction Center has much of this area under a slight risk for severe weather with an enhanced risk for northern Indiana and northwest Ohio. Some of these storms may produce periods of higher rainfall. The extensive swath of precipitation will cover much of the Eastern Seaboard by late Tuesday... with the best areal coverage along the Appalachians. Although there isn't much left of what was Tropical Cyclone Lidia, moisture will move into parts of the Southwest and Southern/Central California and will aid in triggering scattered showers and thunderstorms.
