Although Hurricane Jose is forecast to weaken and stay offshore, the Northeast coast will have dangerous surf conditions along with the threat of rip currents from the North Carolina coast into New England. The outer bands are bringing numerous showers this afternoon to much of the Del-Mar-VA region to Cape Cod, is expected to continue for coastal areas of the Northeast into Thursday. There is a slight chance of flash flooding for eastern Connecticut, Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts through Wednesday morning. Showers and thunderstorms are firing across portions of the northern High Plains this afternoon and will spread to the Upper Midwest late tonight. The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted the eastern Dakotas and western Minnesota as having slight and enhanced risk for severe weather this evening and overnight. The area of showers and thunderstorms will shift to the Midwest and Upper Great Lakes as the cold front progresses eastward. Much of the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West has had widespread precipitation today and this is expected to continue through the end of the work week as a low pressure system and associated surface cold front moves through the region. Some of the higher elevations of the Cascades and the Northern Rockies may have snow over the next couple of days...with rain in the lower elevations. There may be times of heavier precipitation.
