A front extending from the Northern/Central Appalachians into the Tennessee/Lower Mississippi Valleys and the Southern Plains will move eastward off the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Coast overnight Monday. The southern half of the boundary will be quasi-stationary through Tuesday evening. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the front from parts of the Northeast to the Lower Mississippi/Tennessee Valleys that will, likewise, move eastward off the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast Coast by early Tuesday morning. Showers and thunderstorms will continue over parts of the Middle/Lower Mississippi Valley and parts of the Southern Ohio Valley/Tennessee Valley on Tuesday morning that will expand into the Southern Mid-Atlantic through Tuesday evening. In addition, rain will develop over parts of the Northern Mid-Atlantic/Central Appalachians Tuesday into Tuesday evening. In the meantime, upper-level energy over the Pacific Northwest will move eastward to the Great Basin/Central Plains by Tuesday evening. The energy will aid in producing snow over parts of the higher elevations of the Pacific Northwest through Monday evening. Snow will also develop over parts of the Northern/Central Rockies and into parts of the Northern/Central Plains that will end over the Plains and the Northern Rockies by Tuesday morning into Tuesday afternoon. Also on Tuesday, snow will move into parts of the Central/Southern High Plains through Tuesday evening, while continuing over the Central Rockies. Additionally, light snow will develop over parts of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan from Monday morning into Tuesday afternoon.
