Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 236 AM EST Sun Nov 12 2017 Valid 12Z Sun Nov 12 2017 - 12Z Tue Nov 14 2017 ...Heavy rain and mountain snows possible for parts of the Pacific Northwest... An unsettled pattern shaping up from Sunday to early next week across the West. Persistent onshore flow will bring showers and higher elevation snows to the Pacific Northwest on Sunday ahead of an approaching low pressure center. The low will strengthen and eventually make its way onshore in British Columbia on Monday with moderate to heavy precipitation expected along the Coastal Range and Cascades. Some of the moisture will find its way into the northern Rockies by Tuesday as a surface low tracks inland. Temperatures will moderate across much of the Western U.S. ahead of the deep upper trough offshore and will see temperatures rise above normal across the central U.S. by the end of the period. In the east, strong high pressure will momentarily give way to a weak frontal wave moving from the Plains to the east coast with limited precipitation. High pressure will regain control by Tuesday and although temperatures will remain below normal they will not approach the winter like temperatures experienced the previous few days.
