Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 316 PM EST Thu Nov 16 2017 Valid 00Z Fri Nov 17 2017 - 00Z Sun Nov 19 2017 ...Heavy rain and higher elevation snow possible over the Sierras... ...Heavy rain possible over the Lower Great Lakes/Ohio Valley... ...Temperatures will be 20 to 30 degrees above average over parts of the Central/Southern Plains and Central/Southern High Plains... A front extending from the Northern High Plains southwestward to the Great Basin will slowly move eastward the Great Lakes to parts of the Middle/Lower Mississippi Valley into the Southern Plains by Saturday. The system will produce rain and higher elevation snow over the Pacific Northwest and Northern/Central California eastward into the Northern/Central Rockies that will taper off over California by Friday evening. The snow and lower elevation rain will taper off over the Great Basin, Central Rockies, and most of the Northern Rockies by Saturday evening. In addition, onshore flow over the Pacific Northwest will aid in continuing rain and higher elevation snow over the Pacific Northwest on overnight Friday into Saturday that will begin to taper off by Saturday afternoon.
