Scattered to widespread precipitation is occurring from the Upper Mississippi Valley to the Ohio Valley and across the Northeast. Areas downwind of the Great Lakes are observing enhancement from the lakes. Coverage and intensity is higher over eastern Maine with relation to the central low pressure. Cooler and drier air will begin to filter into the region on Monday. Lake Shore Flood Warnings and Lake Effect Snow Warnings are in effect for counties near Lake Erie. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for portions of northeast Michigan and western New York. Widespread gusty winds will persist tonight - numerous Wind Advisories are in effect near the coast from Delaware to southern Maine. A plume of very moist air... known as an atmospheric river... will move onshore the Pacific Northwest resulting in several inches of rainfall along the coast and lower elevations and heavy snow in the mountains. Some ranges may reach or exceed accumulations over a foot. An expansive high pressure ridge will expand from the Great Basin to the Southern Plains; which will keep conditions warm and dry.
