Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 219 AM EST Thu Nov 23 2017 Valid 12Z Thu Nov 23 2017 - 12Z Sat Nov 25 2017 ...Heavy rainfall possible across portions of Florida Thursday and Friday... ...Wet weather and localized heavy rainfall possible Thursday across the Pacific Northwest... ...Well above normal temperatures likely across the northern and central Plains Thursday and Friday... A surface low currently in the eastern Gulf of Mexico will move across the northern Florida peninsula on Thursday. Expect showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rainfall possible, to accompany this system during the Thanksgiving Holiday and into Friday across northern and central Florida. The weather should dry out by the weekend as the low moves farther north and east into the western Atlantic and surface high pressure moves into the region. It also looks to be a wet holiday for those across the Northwest as a cold front crossing the region will bring rain and mountain snows to places from the Pacific Northwest into the northern Rockies. Localized heavy rainfall and flooding will be possible across portions of northwest Washington on Thursday but farther east, limited moisture availability would mean activity should be more scattered and light to moderate in intensity. Some light accumulating snows are also possible in the higher terrain of the Washington Cascades, but significant accumulations are not expected. Conditions across the northwest are expected to dry out after the passage of the front, but the Pacific Northwest which should see another round of showers by the weekend as a second cold front approaches the region. Across the northern and central Plains, temperatures ahead of this cold front will be very warm, with afternoon highs on Thursday and Friday as much as 20 to 35 degrees above normal. The same front will also bring some light rainfall to parts of the Great Lakes on Friday moving into the Northeast by Saturday.
