Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 329 AM EST Tue Dec 05 2017 Valid 12Z Tue Dec 05 2017 - 12Z Thu Dec 07 2017 ...Heavy snow possible over parts of the Upper Great Lakes... ...Heavy lake effect snow possible over the parts of the Lower Great Lakes... ...Snow possible over parts of Southwestern Texas... ...Heavy rain possible over parts of Southern Plains/Lower Mississippi Valley... A strong front extending from the Lower Great Lakes roughly southwestward to the Lower Mississippi Valley/Western Gulf Coast will move eastward off the East Coast and the Gulf Coast by Wednesday evening. Rain will develop along and ahead of the boundary from the Lower Great Lakes to parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley/Southern Plains that will move eastward to the Eastern Seaboard by Wednesday morning. The rain will move off the Northeast/Northern Mid-Atlantic Coast by Wednesday evening. Overnight Tuesday, snow will develop over parts of the Northern/Central Appalachians ending over the Central Appalachians by Wednesday morning. Rain and snow move into parts of Northern New England early Wednesday morning ending by Wednesday afternoon. Meanwhile, showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Western Gulf Coast on Tuesday that will move into the Central Gulf Coast by Tuesday evening. Overnight Tuesday, the showers and thunderstorms will move into parts of the Eastern Gulf Coast and into Northeastern Florida by Wednesday evening. Additionally, upper-level energy over Southern California will move into Northern Mexico and Southwestern Texas on Wednesday into Wednesday evening. The energy will develop rain and snow over parts of the Southern Rockies/Southern Plains that will expand into parts of the Southern Plain overnight Tuesday. In addition, rain will develop over parts of the Western Gulf Coast and expand northward into the Southern Plains merging with the are of rain and snow expanding eastward out of the Southern Rockies by Wednesday morning. The rain and snow will be confined to Southwest Texas by Wednesday evening as rain expands eastward across the Southern Plains into parts of the Central/Eastern Gulf Coast.
