High pressure with dry conditions and above normal temperatures will continue across much of the western and central U.S. through the early part of the week. Strong, gusty Santa Ana winds along with low relative humidities will contribute to dangerous fire conditions across portions of southern California through Monday. Lake effect snow warnings remain in effect in the lees of lakes Erie and Ontario, where strong, cold westerly winds are expected to support narrow bands of heavy lake effect snows through the overnight hours into early Monday. A clipper system is expected to deliver more widespread, but generally light snows to portions of the upper Midwest and western Great Lakes as it drops of out central Canada Sunday night. Snowy conditions are expected to return to portions of the Northeast on Tuesday as an area of low pressure quickly intensifies near the northern New England coast on Tuesday, with locally heavy accumulations possible for parts of northern New York and interior northern New England. Meanwhile, cold high pressure will support below normal temperatures across the Southeast into Monday, with lows expected to drop below freezing as far south as the northern Tampa Bay area Monday morning.
