A front extending from the Lower Great Lakes/Ohio Valley into the Lower Mississippi Valley/Southern Plains will move off the Eastern Seaboard overnight Thursday into Friday morning. The system will produce snow from the Northeast to the Lower Great Lakes and over the Upper Great Lakes with rain over Eastern/Central Ohio Valley returning to snow over the Western Ohio Valley/Middle Mississippi Valley on Thursday morning. The snow will continue over Northern New England and expand into the Central Appalachians and parts of the Ohio Valley by Thursday evening. The light snow will move into Southern New England and the Northern Mid-Atlantic by Friday morning, moving off the coast by Friday evening. The rain will expand on Thursday into Southern New England southwestward to the Lower Mississippi Valley by Thursday evening. The rain will move eastward off the Southern Mid-Atlantic/Southeast and the Eastern/Central Gulf Coast by Friday evening. In the wake of the system, lake effect snow will develop downwind from the Great Lakes Thursday evening into Friday evening. Meanwhile, multiple upper-level impulses will move over the Northern/Central Rockies that will aid in producing snow that will increase and decrease over the area on Thursday into Friday evening. In addition, onshore flow aids in producing rain and higher elevation snow over parts of the Pacific Northwest through Friday evening. Upper-level ridging develops over the Northwest through Friday that will allow the snow levels to rise over the Pacific Northwest.
