A front extending from the Lower Great Lakes southwestward to the Southern Plains then northwestward to the Pacific Northwest will move eastward to Southern New England/Northern Mid-Atlantic southward to the Western Gulf Coast and to the U.S./Mexican border by Sunday. The system will produce snow from Northern Appalachians/Lower Great Lakes to Western Ohio Valley and from parts of the Northern/Central Plains to the Northern Rockies. Overnight Friday, the snow moves into Northern New England and continues into the Lower Great Lakes through Sunday. The snow ends over the Northern Rockies by Saturday morning as the area of snow moves into the Central Rockies/Central Plains by Saturday evening. Overnight Saturday, the snow expands into the Middle Mississippi Valley/Western Ohio Valley into Sunday. Meanwhile, moisture from the Western Gulf of Mexico flows northward over the Western Gulf Coast into the Middle/Lower Mississippi Valley that will extend northward into parts of the Northeast overnight Friday as moisture flows off the Western Atlantic into the Southeast and into parts of the Mid-Atlantic Saturday evening into Sunday. Upper-level energy over the Texas/Mexican Border will move northeastward to the Mid-Atlantic/Southern Appalachians by Saturday night/Sunday. The moisture and energy will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Western Gulf Coast/Lower Mississippi Valley into the Southeast that will continue over the region through Sunday. Overnight Friday, rain will develop over parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley into the Southern Ohio/Tennessee Valley that will expand into parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Southern New England on Saturday, continuing into Sunday. The rain will be heavy at times over parts of the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys into parts of the Northern Mid-Atlantic. Between the rain and the snow, a band of rain/freezing rain will develop over parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley to the Lower Great Lakes overnight Friday into Sunday.
