Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 357 AM EDT Wed Apr 04 2018 Valid 12Z Wed Apr 04 2018 - 12Z Fri Apr 06 2018 ...A strong cold front is expected to bring severe weather and heavy rain through tonight across the Ohio Valley... ...Snow heavy at times is expected for the Upper Midwest into the Great Lakes through Wednesday morning along with gusty winds... ...Another round of moisture will move into the Pacific Northwest as arctic air continues to filter into the northern Rockies with snow developing... The cold front that brought a round of severe weather to areas from the Ohio Valley to southeast Texas on Tuesday will continue pressing eastward today. The line of showers and thunderstorms will stretch from the Northeast to the central Gulf Coast today. The severe weather aspect of this system will continue--albeit not as intense as Tuesday--with a small portion of coastal Mid-Atlantic under a slight risk. Precipitation will begin moving offshore by Wednesday evening, with showers continuing mainly in New England and Florida. By late Wednesday night, all precipitation will come to an end. In addition, strong winds are expected ahead of the front across Mid-Atlantic and Northeast; thus, wind advisories are in effect across these regions today. Upper level energy will slide across the Pacific Northwest late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning as southwest flow at the surface will bring an increase in moisture throughout the region. onsequently, rain and higher elevation snow is expected all day and continuing into Thursday morning. Snow will fall along the Cascades and northern Rockies on Wednesday with snow increasing across the northern Rockies by Thursday.
