Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 358 PM EDT Thu Apr 26 2018 Valid 00Z Fri Apr 27 2018 - 00Z Sun Apr 29 2018 ...Unsettled weather with locally heavy rain and cooler temperatures is expected to return to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast... ...A new storm system coming into the West will bring some rain and cooler temperatures... ...Mild and dry weather is expected for the Intermountain West... An area of low pressure moving across the Southeast is expected to lift to the northeast tonight through Friday which will spread clouds and some locally heavy rain over the Mid-Atlantic region before the system gradually moves up over the Northeast for the start of the weekend. This system coupled with the arrival of a fairly strong cold front from the Midwest and Great Lakes region will allow for cooler temperatures with daytime temperatures generally below normal across much of the Eastern U.S. going into the weekend. The coldest temperatures will be across the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley where high temperatures will be as much as 10 to 15 degrees below normal. The weather across the West will initially be quite mild and dry, but there will be a slow-moving storm system coming in off the Pacific Ocean that will cross the West Coast on Friday and bring cooler weather a threat of rain into Saturday along portions of the West Coast and especially the Pacific Northwest. The mild weather initially in place will be displaced downstream across the Intermountain region through Saturday and then out into the High Plains by late in the weekend. Some daytime readings will reach as much as 10 to 20 degrees above normal here. The remainder of the nation will be generally dry with temperatures near normal. However, some shower activity is expected by Saturday across the central and southern Rockies and the southern High Plains as some moisture begins to return up to the north.
