Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 1237 AM EDT Fri Apr 27 2018 Valid 12Z Fri Apr 27 2018 - 12Z Sun Apr 29 2018 ...A new storm system coming into the West will bring some rain and cooler temperatures... ...Moderate to heavy rains expected across the Mid-Atlantic and New England states... ...Record lows possible across the Midwest and Lower Ohio Valley Sunday morning... A slow-moving storm system coming in off the Pacific Ocean will cross the West Coast on Friday and bring cooler weather and a threat of rain into Saturday along portions of the West Coast and especially the Pacific Northwest. The mild weather initially in place will be displaced downstream across the Intermountain region through Saturday and then out into the High Plains by late in the weekend. Some daytime readings will reach as much as 10 to 20 degrees above normal in the Plains. Showers and thunderstorms are expected on Saturday across the central and southern Rockies and the southern High Plains as some moisture begins to return up to the north ahead of this system late Saturday into early Sunday. An area of low pressure moving through the Mid-Atlantic States and New England is expected will spread clouds and moderate to heavy rain northeast through the region over the next couple of days. This system coupled with the arrival of a fairly strong cold front from the Midwest and Great Lakes region will allow for cooler temperatures with daytime temperatures generally below normal across much of the Eastern U.S. going into the weekend. The coldest temperatures will be across the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley where high temperatures will be as much as 10 to 15 degrees below normal. Record lows are possible Sunday morning across portions of the Midwest and lower Ohio valley within the chilly airmass. Roth Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_ndfd.php
