Scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms are moving through the northern Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast as a cold front moves southeast through the region and another front tracks northeast off the East Coast. This will continue into Monday morning. Showers will be possible for the southern Mid-Atlantic and Southeast Tuesday and Wednesday as the front moves through the Central Appalachians and Tennessee Valley. An area of low pressure near south Florida will keep showers and thunderstorms in the area over the next couple of days. Across the West, scattered showers and storms are spreading from the Pacific Northwest to northern Intermountain West/Rockies, and into the northern Plains by Monday. Locally enhanced heavier rainfall is possible along the favorable terrain, especially for northern Idaho and northwest Montana where flood watches and advisories have been issued. Much of the Southwest U.S. will be hot and dry underneath upper level ridging, with triple digit heat likely today.
