A deep upper-level trough over the eastern third of the country will form an upper-level low over the Mid-Atlantic overnight Saturday into Sunday morning. Moisture rich air over the region along with daytime heating will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms from the Northeast southwestward to the Central/Eastern Gulf Coast on Friday evening. Overnight Friday the moisture will move off the Northeast Coast as the showers and thunderstorms end by Saturday morning. The showers and thunderstorms will continue over Mid-Atlantic to the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys into the Southeast through Sunday with a strong diurnal component to the areal coverage. Meanwhile, a front extending from Northern/Central Plains into the Southwest will move eastward and southward to the Great Lakes and the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys into the Lower Mississippi Valley/Western Gulf Coast by Sunday.
