Showers and thunderstorms developing on Thursday are expected to keep temperatures lower across portions of the central Great Plains and mid to lower Missouri valley, however anomalously warm temperatures are expected to prevail across the High Plains through Friday. A series of upper level disturbances moving across the top of the high are expected to impact portions of the northern Rockies into the Great Plains with showers and thunderstorms both days. Some of these storms may become strong to severe. The Storm Prediction Center continues to highlight the potential for strong to severe storms across portions of Wyoming, as well as from the central Great Plains to Iowa this afternoon and evening. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop once again tomorrow, with the threat for severe storms centered mainly across the central through the northern High Plains. However, strong storms are possible to the south across portions of the central and southern Great Plains into the middle Mississippi valley. Across the western U.S., a frontal boundary will slowly work its way east into the Pacific Northwest, bringing rains into western Washington, Oregon and far northwestern California on Friday. In the East, temperatures will gradually moderate from at to well-below normal across much of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic on Wednesday to at to above normal on Friday. With the exception of Florida, much of the eastern U.S. will remain dry through Thursday, before afternoon and evening thunderstorms become more widespread on Friday. Across Florida, a weak area of low pressure is forecast to promote showers and thunderstorms across the state over the next couple of days.
