Stormy weather is expected across the Dakotas and into Minnesota Thursday evening and into early Friday as a potent weather disturbance crosses near the Canadian border, with the best chance of severe weather over North Dakota. This same storm system is expected to produce heavy rainfall from northern Minnesota to Wisconsin, with general 1 to 2 inch rainfall amounts likely. Additional showers and storms are also expected over the Gulf Coast region. Tropical moisture associated with the future remnants of what is now Tropical Storm Bud will begin impinging on southern Arizona and New Mexico by later Friday and into Saturday. Anomalous moisture levels for this time of year, prior to the typical onset of monsoon season, will result in scattered to numerous showers and storms, with the possibility that some could produce flooding issues. Across the eastern U.S. from the Ohio Valley to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast U.S., a high quality airmass will govern the weather pattern through Friday before a significant warming trend ensues by the weekend.
