A deep upper-level trough will be over the eastern two/thirds of the country that will remain over the area through Sunday. One area of cold high pressure followed by another will move out of Central Canada southeastward to the Ohio Valley Saturday into Sunday. Upper-level energy embedded in the upper-level trough will aid in producing lake effect snow and upslope flow snow will develop downwind from the Great Lakes into the Central Appalachians through Sunday. In addition, an area of low pressure over the Northern Plains will move southeastward to the Ohio Valley by Saturday night into Sunday. The low will aid in producing light snow over parts of the Northern Plains that will expand southeastward into parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley by Friday evening and into parts of the Ohio Valley by Saturday evening. Meanwhile, moisture from the Western Gulf of Mexico will slowly move northward into Texas that will start to produce rain over the Western Gulf Coast Saturday morning that will end by Sunday morning.
