A quick moving area of low pressure moving into the Great Lakes region will deliver snow and a reinforcing shot of cold air. Temperatures in the wake of the system will run up to 25 degrees below normal. A deep upper-level trough will allow temperatures Saturday to run below average for much of the eastern third of the country. An area of low pressure is forecast to cross the northern border later this weekend, delivering heavy snow to portions of the Northern Plains. Meanwhile, soaking rain is expected for southern Florida over the second half of the weekend. The rainfall is in response to a boundary lifting north and interacting with moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. Nettesheim Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_ndfd.php
