Low pressure southeast of Cap Cod will move northeastward into the Canadian Maritimes by Monday evening. The system will produce snow over parts of the Northeast that will come to a slow end by Monday evening. Cold high pressure over the Northern High Plains will move southeastward to the Central Plains overnight Monday. The cold air and upper-level energy will aid in producing lake effect snow downwind from the ice free areas of the Great Lakes through Wednesday. Meanwhile, a storm over the Pacific will steadily move eastward to the California Coast overnight Tuesday. Moisture associated with the system will begin to move onshore over California overnight Monday. Rain will develop over parts of California on Tuesday afternoon. Snow will develop over the higher elevations of California and parts of the Great Basin by Tuesday evening. Snow will expand into parts of the Central Rockies overnight Tuesday.
