Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 336 AM EDT Fri Mar 15 2019 Valid 12Z Fri Mar 15 2019 - 12Z Sun Mar 17 2019 ...Showers and thunderstorms move through the East on Friday... ...Quiet weather through the short range period for much of the country this weekend... The low pressure system which brought blizzard conditions, heavy rainfall, and severe weather to parts of the Plains and Midwest this week has pushed well into Canada this morning. Showers and thunderstorms along the attendant cold front as it passes through the East today are likely, with showers also lingering along the Gulf Coast and Florida into Sunday. Another warm day is in store for the East, but temperatures are forecast to return to near or below normal values this weekend following the cold frontal passage. Gusty winds may continue into Friday across parts of the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes, with mainly light rain or snow showers also possible through Saturday as another weaker cold front passes through. Moderate to major river flooding across parts of the Mississippi and Missouri river valleys may also persist into the weekend. The weather elsewhere across the country should be rather quiet through the short range period with temperatures near or below normal for most. The biggest departures from normal are forecast to be across the Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley where daytime highs Friday and Saturday could be 10 to 20+ degrees below normal. Temperatures for the West Coast states should hover near or just above average for this time of the year. Santorelli Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_ndfd.php
