A slow moving, occluded low pressure system with a cold front extending southwestward from Ontario into southeast Texas and Mexico will continue moving eastward as the connected warm front lifts north over the Northeast. The southern part of the front will stall out tonight from the Mid-Atlantic southward. This will lead to heavy rain and thunderstorms across the Mississippi/Tennessee/Ohio Valleys, Southeast and Mid-Atlantic through Sunday evening before the system moves off into the Atlantic on Monday. Rain and thunderstorms are expected for the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast tonight before the northern portion of the front moves offshore. Another, faster, low pressure system will move into the Northern Plains from Saskatchewan tonight bringing rain and thunderstorms to the region as well as to the Upper Mississippi Valley through Sunday morning. A Slight Risk of Excessive Rainfall has been issued for the aformentioned regions through Sunday. The Storm Prediction Center issued a Slight Risk of Severe Thunderstorms for much of the Carolinas and Georgia on Sunday. Things should begin to dry out over the Mississippi/Tennessee Valleys by Tuesday. Elsewhere, temperatures of up to 25 degrees below average are expected for parts of the Middle Mississippi Valley, and Central/Southern Plains.
