Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 331 AM EDT Tue May 21 2019 Valid 12Z Tue May 21 2019 - 12Z Thu May 23 2019 ...Stormy weather across the Plains and cool temperatures for the Rockies and New England... The severe weather potential is beginning to gradually diminish across the central plains and Midwest, after an active day on Monday. The threat of severe storms on Tuesday will be across Missouri and Arkansas, and will not be as widespread as yesterday, with SPC having an enhanced risk of severe storms across this region. With the surface low weakening on Wednesday, the severe threat will not be as significant. Additional heavy rainfall will once again be an issue, with the potential for 1 to 3 inches of rainfall through Wednesday from eastern Oklahoma to northern Missouri, and this may lead to instances of flooding. To the north and west of the surface low, temperatures are forecast to be 10 to 25 degrees below average across the Four Corners region, the western High Plains, and much of the Intermountain West through Wednesday. Late season mountain snow is likely for portions of Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, and Montana, where at least a few inches of snow could fall at elevations above 8000 feet through Wednesday. Behind the cold front and dry line, very low relative humidity and high winds result in dangerous fire weather conditions mainly across southern New Mexico and far western portions of Texas.
