Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 356 PM EDT Sat Jun 01 2019 Valid 00Z Sun Jun 02 2019 - 00Z Tue Jun 04 2019 ...There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms from parts of the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley roughly southwestward to the Southern High Plains... ...There is an embedded enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Western Ohio Valley/Middle Mississippi Valley... ...There is a slight risk of excessive rainfall over the Northern Mid-Atlantic into the Great Lakes and over the Central/Southern Plains/Central High Plains... A front extending from parts of the Northeast into the Great Lakes southwestward to the Central Plains then banking northwestward along the foothills of the Central/Northern Rockies will move eastward off of most of the East Coast by Monday morning. The western part of the front moves southward to the Gulf Coast by Monday as well,as the extreme western half remains east of the Rockies through Monday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and near the boundary from parts of the Northeast/Northern Mid-Atlantic westward to the Middle Mississippi Valley then southwestward into the Southern High Plains that will move off most of the Northeast/Northern Mid-Atlantic Coast overnight Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms will end over parts of the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys by Sunday evening while continuing over parts of the Central/Southern Plains into Monday. Showers and thunderstorms will expand into parts of the Central High Plains overnight Saturday continuing into Monday. Furthermore, the showers and thunderstorms will expand into parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley overnight Sunday into Monday. Meanwhile a decaying front over the Southeast will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over the region through Sunday evening. A deep upper-level low over Southern California will remain quasi-stationary through Monday. The energy will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Northern Intermountain Region/Northern Rockies into parts of the Great Basin and Northern/Central California that will continue through Monday. The showers and thunderstorms will have a strong diurnal component with a decrease in areal coverage from late overnight into late morning on Saturday and Sunday.
