Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 416 PM EDT Fri Jun 07 2019 Valid 00Z Sat Jun 08 2019 - 00Z Mon Jun 10 2019 ...Severe Thunderstorms likely over the Northern Plains... ...Widespread moderate to heavy rains with possible flash flooding to continue across the southeastern U.S. into the weekend... ...Well below-normal temperatures moving east across the northwestern U.S.... An upper level trough currently propagating through the Pacific Northwest will produce moderate rainfall and severe thunderstorms over parts of the Northern Rockies/Plains. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Slight enclosing an Enhanced Risk of Severe Weather for these same areas through Saturday morning. A slow-moving low pressure system currently stationed over northern Mississippi will move east into northern Alabama through Sunday evening. The slow nature of this system compounded with a stream of Gulf moisture will produce upwards of 5 inches of rain for parts of the Florida Panhandle and Southen Appalachians. Rainfall totals in the surrounding Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions are forecast to range between 1-3 inches. A Slight Risk of Flash Flooding is in effect for much of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, while a Moderate Risk is in effect for the Blue Ridge through Monday morning. Ongoing rainfall has led to continued Flood Warnings along the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers, as well as Flash Flood Watches for parts of the Tennessee/Ohio Valleys, Southern Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle. An upper level ridge will enter the West Coast this weekend leading to dry conditions. As a response, the Storm Prediction Center issued a Critical Risk for Fire Weather over the Sacramento Valley area. An Elevated Risk of Fire Weather lingers for surrounding places including the Bay Area. Below average temperatures are also expected throughout this weekend with highs being near 20 degrees below normal for parts of the Northern/Central Rockies and Intermountain West.
