Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 419 PM EDT Mon Jun 10 2019 Valid 00Z Tue Jun 11 2019 - 00Z Thu Jun 13 2019 ...Moderate to heavy rains, with possible flash flooding across the Eastern Seaboard through Wednesday morning.... ...Near-record to record breaking heat developing over the Pacific Northwest... An upper-level trough currently crossing the midsection of the country will fuel a broad area of moderate to heavy rainfall stretching from the Upper Midwest and Northeast down to the Florida Panhandle through Tuesday evening. The surface low pressure system associated with this rainfall will propagate eastward and move off into the Atlantic by Tuesday afternoon. The southern portion of the system will stall out over the Southeast and Gulf of Mexico leading to additional rainfall for parts of the Southeast coast. Therefore, a Slight Risk of Excessive Rainfall has been issued for portions of the Central Appalachians, Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia Tidewater, New York Tri-State area and Georgia coast through Wednesday morning. An upper-level ridge will continue building over the western half the U.S. throughout the next couple of days. This will lead to the chance of record high temperatures for parts of the Pacific Northwest. Temperatures are likely to be in excess of 20 degrees above normal, particularly along the Oregon/Washington coast. Excessive heat warnings are currently in effect for this area, as well as for the San Joaqin Valley and Las Vegas/Phoenix metro areas. Meanwhile, high temperatures over the Carolina Piedmont are expected to be between 15-20 degrees below normal on Wednesday. Kebede Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_ndfd.php
