Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 411 PM EDT Wed Jun 12 2019 Valid 00Z Thu Jun 13 2019 - 00Z Sat Jun 15 2019 ...Heat to continue across the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday night... ...Rain expected along the Mid-Atlantic coast on Wednesday night followed by cooler temperatures from the Mississippi Valley eastward through the remainder of the week... The upper-level ridge that has been responsible for record breaking heat in the Pacific Northwest will begin to erode late Wednesday evening before a cold front ushers in more moderate temperatures late Thursday into Friday. Highs and lows will be up to 20 degrees above normal for certain places across the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday night into Thursday. The Storm Prediction Center issued a Critical Area for isolated Dry Thunderstorms over parts of Oregon ahead of the cold front. The Storm Prediction Center has also issued a Critical Chance of Fire Weather for Southern Arizona on Thursday. An upper-level trough, and associated low pressure system will bring 1-2 inches of rainfall to parts of the Great Lakes tonight through Friday morning. As this surface low progresses eastward and occludes on Friday, the southernmost tip of the associated cold front will bring 1-2 inches of rain and possible thunderstorms to southern Florida. In the East, a stalled low pressure system over the Southeast and Gulf of Mexico that produced a few inches of rain to parts of the coastal community over the past 24 hours will begin to lift north this evening, bringing moderate to heavy rainfall to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Thursday into Friday. 1-2 inches of rain are likely for much of the Blue Ridge/Shenandoah up into northern New Jersey and coastal New England for this time period.
