Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 500 PM EDT Sun Jun 30 2019 Valid 00Z Mon Jul 1 2019 - 00Z Wed Jul 3 2019 ...Stormy weather across the north-central U.S. with heat gradually abating... The weather pattern across the continental U.S. will be featured with a broad upper level ridge situated over the central U.S. and a departing upper level low from New England. At the surface, a meandering quasi-stationary frontal boundary will exist from the central Rockies to the Great Lakes region, and a stronger cold front arrives by later Tuesday across the northern plains. Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are forecast from Nebraska to Wisconsin over the next couple of days on the northern periphery of the upper ridge and just north of the front. One to three inches of rainfall is expected within this corridor through Tuesday evening, and some instances of severe weather are likely as well. Elsewhere across the continental U.S., scattered showers and storms are expected to develop across parts of Texas, the Florida Peninsula, and the Rockies. In terms of temperatures, the ongoing heat wave across the north-central U.S. is forecast to abate some going into the beginning of the work week, with heat advisories remaining in affect from north-central Kansas to southern Minnesota through the rest of Sunday. After a brief return to near normal temperatures across the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast, readings will rise to above normal levels by mid-week with widespread upper 80s and 90s along with increasing levels of humidity and diurnal showers and storms.
