Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 348 PM EDT Mon Jul 29 2019 Valid 00Z Tue Jul 30 2019 - 00Z Thu Aug 1 2019 ...Showers and storms from the Gulf Coast to New England, and cooler conditions for the northern Plains... Warm and dry conditions are forecast to persist for a couple more days across the East Coast region, with highs in the upper 80s to middle 90s and seasonal levels of humidity. A slow moving cold front approaches from the west by Wednesday night and heralds a change to increased shower and thunderstorm chances for the end of the week. The greatest coverage of convection is anticipated from Louisiana to upstate New York. The best prospects for heavy rainfall will be across portions of far eastern Texas and across Louisiana, with 1 to locally 3 three inches possible by Wednesday afternoon. Some strong thunderstorms will also be possible, but only a marginal risk for severe storms based on the latest SPC convective outlooks. Cooler and more refreshing conditions are expected behind the cold front across the Midwest and the Great Lakes region, with highs in the 70s for many areas and lows in the 50s to around 60 degrees. Diurnally driven showers and storms can also be expected across the central Rockies and even more so across Arizona as moisture from the monsoon fuels convection. Flash flooding may become a concern with any slow moving storms that develop. Dry conditions are expected from California to the Pacific Northwest through the middle of the week. D.
