Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 333 PM EDT Fri Aug 02 2019 Valid 00Z Sat Aug 03 2019 - 00Z Mon Aug 05 2019 ...Heavy rainfall and a flash flooding threat will continue into Saturday for eastern portions of the central and southern Plains... ...Monsoonal moisture will bring daily chances for showers and thunderstorms across the Southwest into the southern and central Rockies/High Plains... ...Increasing tropical moisture will support heavy rains across portions of Florida and Southeast coast... As a series of upper disturbances interact with a very moist airmass, additional showers and thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rainfall amounts will continue across portions of the central and southern Great Plains Friday evening into early Saturday. Heaviest rainfall amounts are expected to center across eastern Kansas and Oklahoma and far western Missouri and Arkansas and Northeast Texas. Given the potential for these storms to produce heavy rainfall amounts in a short amount of time, flash flood watches are currently in effect for portions of the region. In addition to the heavy rainfall threat, abundant clouds will limit daytime temperatures, with another day of well-below normal temperatures expected across Kansas and eastern Oklahoma on Saturday. Farther west, monsoonal moisture will support afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms across the Southwest into the southern and central Rockies/High Plains through the weekend. These storms may produce locally heavy rainfall amounts, which may result in flash flooding. In the East, unsettled weather is expected to continue from the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast back into the southern Plains along a weak, slow-moving frontal band. A weak upper level disturbance lifting north from Florida along the Southeast coast may produce some heavy rainfall amounts as interacts with a plume deep tropical moisture.
