Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 320 AM EDT Sat Aug 03 2019 Valid 12Z Sat Aug 03 2019 - 12Z Mon Aug 05 2019 ...Heavy rainfall and a flash flooding threat will continue into Saturday for eastern Oklahoma into northeast Texas... ...Monsoonal moisture will bring daily chances for showers and thunderstorms across the Four Corners into the southern and central Rockies while increasing tropical moisture supports heavy rain across Florida and the Southeast coast... ...Excessive heat warnings and heat advisories are in effect for parts of the Southwest... An upper level disturbance dropping southward through parts of the south-central Plains will continue the threat for showers and thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rainfall. The heaviest amounts should focus across central and eastern Oklahoma into Northeast Texas, where flash flood watches are currently in effect for portions of this region which has seen several rounds of heavy rainfall in the past couple of days. Elsewhere, monsoonal moisture will support daily showers and thunderstorms across the Four Corners region and into the southern and central Rockies. These storms may produce locally heavy to excessive rainfall, especially along the favored terrain. In the East, unsettled weather is expected to continue from the Mid-Atlantic to the Deep South along a weak and slow moving frontal boundary. A surface trough lifting north from Florida along the Southeast coast may produce heavy rainfall mainly for the coastal Carolinas as this system interacts with a plume of deep tropical moisture. General cloudiness from the Central U.S. to the South and Mid-Atlantic states will keep temperatures near or below normal, especially across portions of the Central and Southern Plains. Upper level ridging out west will result in near or above normal temperatures. Across parts of the Southwest, excessive heat warnings and heat advisories are in effect as daytime highs are expected to be near or exceeding 110 to 120 degrees in some places.
