Wildfire threat will accompany the hot dry conditions across portions of the West... Dorian is expected to track northwest from the eastern Caribbean today and toward Puerto Rico on Wednesday. Dorian will bring potentially life threatening impacts to the island Wednesday with heavy to flooding rains, high winds, high surf and storm surge potential. The official NHC forecast track for Dorian brings the storm into the Bahamas Friday-Saturday and possibly into the east coast of Florida by Sunday. T.D. #6, currently 300-400 miles off the Southeast coast, is expected to move northeastward and remain well off the East Coast of the U.S. over the next few days. While the center of this storm will remain well offshore...tropical moisture near T.D. #6 may be drawn northward ahead of a cold front moving across the Northeast on Wednesday into Thursday, enhancing rainfall and flooding potential well to the north of T.D. #6 across portions of eastern New England. The cold front moving through the Northeast on Wednesday is the first of two well defined cold fronts to affect the Lower 48 this period. The lead front will move through the Northeast on Wednesday-Thursday, followed by a second front dropping southeast into the Northern Plains/Upper Mississippi Valley on Thursday. Below average temperatures are expected Wednesday and Thursday in the wake of each of these fronts across much of the Plains, Upper to Mid Mississippi Valley, Great Lakes and Ohio Valley. Above average temperatures likely to continue this period across most of the West and into South and West Texas. Excessive Heat Warnings and heat advisories in effect across portions of these areas will likely continue over the next few days.
