Upper-level high and associated upper-level ridging will continue over portions of the West as Red Flag Warnings and Excessive Heat Warnings are up for interior portions of California to Oregon and parts of the Great Basin/Central Rockies. A front over parts of the Upper Midwest will move south and eastward to the Northeast Coast by Friday evening. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the boundary from parts of the Upper Great Lakes to the Central Plains that will move eastward to parts of Lower Great Lakes and extending to parts of the Central Plains by overnight Thursday. Some of the thunderstorms will become severe and the associated heavy rain will produce localized flash flooding. The showers and thunderstorms will move to parts of New England by Friday evening while extending westward to the Central Plains. Tropical moisture over Florida will aid in producing showers and thunderstorms over the region Thursday evening into Friday. A second front currently pushing southeast into the Northern Plains will bring additional cool weather across the Northern Plains Thursday and south into the Central Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley during Friday.
