Hurricane Dorian is forecast to continue intensifying as it tracks farther westward through the weekend and closer to the Florida coast. The latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center indicates Hurricane Dorian moving across the northern Bahamas as a major hurricane late Sunday and early Monday. While its forecast track for early next week remains uncertain given weaker upper level steering flow, tropical-storm-force winds could reach the eastern Florida coast by morning on Labor Day. Everyone is advised to monitor the latest forecasts from the National Hurricane Center as future forecasts are subject to revision. A late season heat wave will continue making weather headlines across the Desert Southwest through the upcoming weekend. The hottest conditions are expected on Saturday, with excessive heat warnings in effect for the lower elevations of eastern California, southern Nevada, and southwestern Arizona. Afternoon highs are likely to reach into the 110s for some areas before a gradual moderating trend commences by early in the week. Elsewhere across the continental U.S., scattered showers and storms will remain possible across parts of the central Plains on Saturday near a stationary front. Another area of showers and storms can be expected across upstate New York on Sunday and continue to spread across northern New England. Dry conditions are expected to continue across much of the western U.S. with most of the monsoonal moisture remaining over western Mexico.
