Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 359 PM EDT Sun Sep 08 2019 Valid 00Z Mon Sep 09 2019 - 00Z Wed Sep 11 2019 ...Heat continues for the southern tier states... ...Severe weather and flash flooding possible across parts of the north-central Plains into the Midwest... Upper level ridging anchored over the Southern tier of the U.S. will continue to result in hot conditions for the Deep South and the Southeast U.S., with the possibility for some record highs to be set through Monday. Widespread afternoon highs in the 90s to near 100 degrees are expected. Cooler than average conditions are expected from the Pacific Northwest to the Great Lakes region with highs of up to 10 to 15 degrees below average on Monday north of the cold front. Across the central U.S., a surface low along a frontal boundary will likely produce showers and thunderstorms from the north-central Plains to the Midwest early this week. Strong thunderstorms and heavy rainfall will be possible, and this is something that the Storm Prediction Center and the Weather Prediction Center are monitoring. Unsettled weather will also be present across the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies as multiple shortwave disturbances pass through the region. D.
