Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 351 AM EDT Sat Sep 14 2019 Valid 12Z Sat Sep 14 2019 - 12Z Mon Sep 16 2019 ...Tropical Storm Humberto slowly tracking northward near the northern Bahamas... ...Showers and storms for the southern Rockies and Upper Midwest... The tropics are becoming active again with the development of Tropical Storm Humberto near the Bahamas. This storm is forecast to slowly intensify into a hurricane over the next couple of days as it slowly moves northward and then farther offshore. Given the eastward adjustment in the storm track, the effects of Humberto should be minimal across Florida and the Southeast U.S. coast, with some increased wave action and showers from some of the outer rain bands. The National Hurricane Center has additional information pertaining to this storm system. Elsewhere across the continental U.S., warmer and more humid weather is forecast to return to much of the East Coast region compared to Friday as the cool surface high retreats eastward and away from the region. Farther to the west across the Upper Midwest, a weak surface low will support a band of heavy showers and thunderstorms from Iowa to Wisconsin on Saturday, with a marginal risk of severe weather based on the latest Storm Prediction Center outlook. Another area of enhanced rain will be possible across parts of the southern Rockies in response to enhanced monsoon with shortwave enhancement, especially across southeast Arizona and southwest New Mexico. Additional rain is also expected for the Pacific Northwest as a cold front moves inland. Dry conditions are forecast from California to the northern Plains. D.
