Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 301 AM EDT Sun Oct 13 2019 Valid 12Z Sun Oct 13 2019 - 12Z Tue Oct 15 2019 ...Well below normal temperatures continue across the Northern Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley... ...Locally heavy rainfall possible along a frontal boundary draped across the Deep South... The major early season snowstorm which impacted the Northern Plains the past few days has finally come to an end, with just a few lingering snow showers and gusty winds possible into Sunday. The associated cold front has moved well east of the system with colder temperatures in its wake from the Mid-Atlantic to the Southern Plains and back towards the Midwest. Frost advisories remain in effect this morning across the Ohio Valley and Central Appalachians as overnight lows dip into the 30s for many. A secondary cold front has brought a renewed surge of cold air into the Northern Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley with daytime highs as much as 20 to 40 degrees below normal in some places through Monday. Meanwhile, showers and thunderstorms are expected to linger from the southern Mid-Atlantic states to the Lower Mississippi Valley along a nearly stationary frontal boundary. Locally heavy to excessive rainfall is possible, especially Monday into Tuesday as the front begins to lift northward as a warm front. Out West, elevated fire weather conditions across portions of southern California should improve today as winds subside and some moisture gets lifted into the region from Mexico.
