Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 352 PM EDT Sun Oct 13 2019 Valid 00Z Mon Oct 14 2019 - 00Z Wed Oct 16 2019 ...Well below normal temperatures to persist across the Northern Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley... ...Locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding possible along a frontal boundary draped across the Deep South... A low pressure system will lift through the Ontario and Quebec while the trailing cold front moves through the Ohio Valley and Northeast. Surface high pressure sliding in behind will keep cooler temperatures over the Upper Mississippi Valley, Midwest and Great Lakes region. Another system will advance through the Plains bringing a renewed surge of cold air. Daytime highs will be as much as 20 to 40 degrees below normal in some places through Monday. Out West, elevated fire weather conditions across portions of southern California should improve today as winds subside and some moisture gets lifted into the region from Mexico. Scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms is what is in store for much of the Deep South over the next couple of days. A stalled frontal boundary will act as a focus for convection, and with a continuous feed of Gulf moisture to fuel the storms, locally intense rainfall will increase the risk for flash flooding. The Gulf Coast states have a Slight Risk for excessive rainfall in effect through Wednesday morning. Campbell Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_ndfd.php
