Showers and thunderstorms are likely from the Lower Mississippi Valley to the Southeast along a stationary boundary with heavy to excessive rainfall possible, especially on Tuesday as the boundary begins to lift north. Another system approaching from the west on Tuesday will tap into this moisture source with showers and thunderstorms likely developing from the mid-Mississippi Valley to the Great Lakes, advancing eastward with the Front into the Ohio Valley and the East Tuesday night into Wednesday. Out West, some rain showers may move into the Pacific Northwest by Tuesday as a series of cold fronts make their way towards the coast. Temperature wise, the Northern Plains to Upper Mississippi Valley stays chilly through the period with daytime highs as much as 10 to 30 degrees below normal. East coast to Southeast and back into the Southern/Central High Plains is warmer than average ahead and south of the frontal boundaries. Low humidities and gusty winds may contribute to an elevated fire weather threat across parts of the Central Rockies.
